ABOUT
A place to talk about amateur radio and tangentially related subjects
About me
I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia along with the spouse, kids, and dogs. I have an academic background in the humanities (specifically history) which has actually been relevant for some of the jobs I’ve held in the past. I’ve also been a professional webmonkey and data wrangler, which was more on the self-taught, fell-into-it side of things.
Amateur radio is a new interest. I want to be able to get on the air to help in case of emergencies, and I also want to try building some equipment. Repair skills are useful, and maybe I’ll be a fan of the making side of things. I’m proudly making the Amateur Radio Inclusivity Pledge.
Other hobbies include: writing (mostly genre fiction), knitting (crochet is dark sorcery), zines (the closest I get to paper craft), D&D (currently alternating in two campaigns where I play a mildly broken Druid and a Psi Warrior), and board games (takes a long pull on my cigarette and begins to tell the kids about how we used to play Settlers of Catan with a friend’s translation of the German). Maybe one day I’ll get back into folk dance or even karate, but I’m not up for either at the moment.
